Use your resources, man!
Sun-Times has the outdoor column by David Bowman, and he puts his e-mail in
every article, and he reviews fishing in the area every week. Last week it was
about what to tell a charter captain when you book a boat.
Within 2.5 hours you have the Madison lakes all the way up to the Wisconsin
River and Devil's Lake. Mix fishing and rock climbing (or rock climbing and
kayaking, but thats a different story.)
Of course, that assumes you want to just fish, guarantees of catching anything
are another matter (although I pulled in two walleye in five casts from Lake
Wisconsin from a pier a few weeks ago. Threw 'em back after the little ones
named them. Long story.).
So once again, Cliff, I'm there first and can give you some places to look.
Heck, I can even set you up with an overnight canoe trip/fishing trip on the
Wisconsin River through a guy with a marina (I used to pump gas for his
parent's store on holiday weekends in wisconsin, he might give you a "Boy
Scout discount" if you mention the right name and history).
And Cliff, this resource is just down the road from you every day he's at
Cliff's old Service Team Chair who still works within blocks of his home
And the first time Cliff posted on the list his response to my answer was "How
are there first every time?"
