Chris got it right, but then he and I attended the same Advancement course at
Lots of volunteers out there want to make everyone think that getting Eagle or
evn just advancing in "their" council/troop/pack is "Special"/"Harder"/etc.,
etc. In reality, an Eagle (or a Tenderfoot or a Bobcat) must pass the same
requirements as every other person with that rank - no more and no less.
I agree, you must educate yourself in this case. Be very careful about reading
what you think you want to see into in the manuals of the BSA - sometimes we
haggle out little things that do not require it because someone grabs a book
at the council office and reads what they want and not what it really says. So
be very sure if you 've read it over to ask questions if you don't understand.
Then take your problem up the line - from the person who is wrong to the DE to
the SE before turning to the top. Some councils actually prefer to solve the
problems that occur before they get to be blown out of proportion.
