But then again, since the boys take the nice clean mess kits and utensils and
put then in dirty packs, haversacks and equipment boxes (after dropping them
once or twice), it doesn't seem to matter that much how they clean them.
Personally, I try to wash any pot or utensil with boiling water just before I
use it and rinse it in cool water for handling.
Dutch ovens get a little clean water and I steam them over the fire until all
water has evaporated just before I start cooking in it. That gets the excess
seasoning oil from the last camping trip out of it. I figure that the steam will
kill just about anything harmful.
