My troop's committee voted in a rule this year that a Scout
MUST go to 5 camp outs and attend 25 meetings to be able to go
to wilderness summer camp with them. No waivers or
exceptions period. They only send new boys to the Council's
My kid is an Eagle Scout with 3 palms. He was also a
freshman at the local High School and heavily involved in their
sports programs. He plays football, basketball, and throws the
discuss ( He won the city District JV meet ). He is the only
Brotherhood member of the troop and is presently working as
a life guard at the Council's camp. He did not get in the rquired
number of events as they only count troop events which do not
include OA, District, or even a week at Philmont.
I am a Vigil member of the OA and the District Activities
Director so my kid does alot of other scouting things outside
the unit with.
We have decided to take our scouting skills to another unit.
What does your unit do and what do you think of our moving?
