Ted asked about a washing machine to be used at summer camp. Our Troop =
uses a 5 gallon plastic bucket with lid and a new and clean "plumbers =
helper". Fill the bucket about half full of water, squirt a little =
biodegradable soap in, and throw in your wash. Put the plumbers helper =
through the spout hole in the lid, and seal the lid. Call over one of =
your more "active scouts" to allow him to agitate the wash with the =
plumbers helper. When through with the wash cycle, empty the soapy =
water, and replace with clean water for the rinse. (May need to repeat =
rinse a few times) This year we may refine the "spin" cycle by punching =
holes in a second plastic bucket, and swinging the wash garments over =
head like a centrifuge.
Last year during the first meal of camp, I splashed gravy down the front =
of my uniform shirt. Our troop washing machine saved the rest of the =
week for me.
Hope this helps.
