I originally joined this mailing list as having been in CS and BS as a
boy, and now as first a Tiger Den Coach and (this past year) as a
Wolf Den Leader. The suggestions I've seen are great.
Well, our Cubmaster is going to move to Boy Scouts after the next year,
and I've offered to become Asst. Cubmaster this fall, to 'learn the
ropes' and be Cubmaster next fall.
Our pack has over 40 boys, and we have good dens. However - our pack
meetings are not much - just the standard 'read the handout of what is
happening', present awards, play a game or have a skit, and that's it.
We don't follow the national program at all...
I've been through the fast start and the den leader training from
council - but although I've had my den for a year, I really, really
want to see a good meeting agenda for both dens and packs.
My den meets twice a month during the school year, and all seven of my
boys received their wolf badge. I know about the conservation award
and the national den award, but wrapping a good den program around
advancement toward Bear as well as those two items is something I'm
Finally, I'm looking for a way to put some zip in our pack meetings.
The 'dim the lights' idea for award ceremonies is a winner - any others?
