In my council (and, I guess, others) we have a leather "totem" that is worn
on the scout belt (with a minor adjustment, it also fits the leather belts).
Two strands of leather (or more) hang from this totem. Boys and leaders
alike receive colored beads for each activity they attend-day or overnight.
For an inexplicable reason, we get two beads-one for each leather strand
(therefore, both strands are exactly the same). The beads are colored
according to the post I sent out earlier. When the strands are full, you
have the option of adding more strands, or going and buying boot laces to
