I would like to set up a directory of federal, state and local govern-
mental agencies and private industries of "places to go" and contacts
in our area for interesting den/pack outings and also personal use.
The directory could be broken down (or cross referenced) by "x miles
away", or "x hours away".
In addition to the general places..zoo, firehouse, farms, parks etc. and
places that school field trips are taken, I would like out of the way
e.g. Tour of the new Ravens stadium. Reduced rate at the National
Aquarium between Nov and Feb after 5.
Dinoland in WVA.
The areas I'm interested in, but not limited to, are Baltimore,
Baltimore City,Howard, Carroll and Prince George's counties in Maryland.
We're within easy driving distance of PA, DC, VA and WVA.
We have area "kid oriented" newspapers that tell of happenings
etc. KIDSTREET NEWS for Baltimore area and one for Washington area
and BALTIMORE'S CHILD. I'm on several area
theater lists. I have DESTINATION MARYLAND, Howard County, PA, and
Southern MD tour guides. Any time I go somewhere I grab any info
About the Government agencies--Is there a number for our
area that would give info on what agencies have visitor centers, e.g.
National Wildlife Refuge.
There is no problem getting on the WWW to find places, but what is
frustrating is knowing about them first. (Or they may not have a web
My problem is I don't know how to acquire this information.
Has anyone ever done something like this?
Is there something like this already?
Is this something that would be available at roundtable meetings?
I am new to the pack -- my son was a Tiger this past year. I've
recently volunteered to be the Tiger coordinator for the fall. Have yet
to go to our pack planning or roundtable meetings.
Thanks in advance,
