Wow, Ed!! Cutting it kinda close aren't we? *heheheheheehehee*
Ed asked for some help from all of us:
>I know this is kind of late, Tommorow night Troop 476 will be having a
>Court of Honor and we will be having a changing of Scoutmasters. Does
>anyone out there a a Scoutmaster charge or oath that can be ussed?
You've given me a good justification for the recent Scouting book purchases
(see, Jessi....those books WERE worth buying *smiling*)!!!
>From the 1947 BSA Handbook for Scoutmasters, page 470:
"A General ceremony for the installation of junior or senior leaders in the
Troop may be run along the following lines:
1. The Troop is formed in a circle or a semi-circle.
2. The Scoutmaster (or Chairman of the Troop Committee if Scoutmaster is
being installed) explains in a few words the importance of the office and
annouces the appointment of a Scout (or Scouter) for the position.
3 The new officer is called forward. He places his left hand on the pole
of the Troop flag, above that of the Scoutmaster (or the Chairman), salutes
and gives the *Troop Leader's Promise (Scouter's Promise):
"I promise to do my best to be worthy of my office as ..........., for the sake
of my fellow Scouts, my Troop and the World Brotherhood of Scouting."
4. The Scoutmaster (or Chairman) says "I trust you to keep your promise and
herewith present to you the insignia of your new office". He then pins the
insignia on the sleeve of the new leader, salutes and shakes his left hand .
5. The Troop is led in a cheer for the new leader. "
Hope this helps out, Ed.....I'll add this to my web site (and to a place on
the site whereby anyone in the future can actually DOWNLOAD it without a lot
of problems and errors!! *laughter*)
Good luck tonight!!!
