Use Velcro. It comes in either sew on or stick on types. My husband has
always been a stickler for his boys (troop and cubs) to "attach" their own
patches. We have found this to be the best method. Once the base of the
Velcro is on the shirt, you can simply detach the patch that is on and stick
on a new one. It works very well.

Pick one of your 'opportunities' and go with it.
Other than FabriTak (superglue for fabrics) has anyone come up with
an acceptale method (non shirt marking/damaging) method to replace needle
and thread for award/advancement attachment?
Twenty plus years in Scouting, and I still can't sew well enough to
my own uniform inspection.
There has to be a better way.
