I agree with Norm that this idea of a survey may prove quite
interesting. I also share the concerns of others that, if done through
the list, it would probably eat up lots of bandwidth, anger many people,
and stop even more from taking part due to wanting to keep their
opinions to themselves.
May I suggest that if this survey goes forward, we select two people
from opposite sides of the issues, and ask them to accept private E-Mail
responses from list members. After a given period of time they could
post their results independently. This would avoid adding too much
traffic to the list, as well as maintain some semblance of privacy for
those who choose to respond.
