Let us use the Stars and Bars to remind us of our history of oppression,
and the blood, and the tears, so that we may never walk that path again.
To which I would reply:
The appropriate place for the Stars and Bars and all other symbols and
implements of oppression should be properly displayed in museums dedicated to
the remembrance of the victims, and not atop state capitols which sit in
governance of the descendants of those victims who were oppressed. Save it for
the battlefield memorials which remember the past in a dignified manner, but
still leave it in the past.
Otherwise, we might as well leave "Whites Only" signs in public places as a
"reminder" of our past.
But then again, I may be totally wrong. Just ask my wife. She has a list.
