I agree that this is a huge waste of time. I have not been
following this thread but when I saw your statement, an idea
popped into my head. Why not run it like a lottery? Everyone
interested in attending a high adventure base fills out a
form. Upon arrival at the high adventure base, the form is
assigned a number and filed. On D-Day, a computer picks
numbers at random. The staff then calls Scouters to make
arrangements. And since there is no rush, this could be
accomplished over 1-2 weeks instead of in a day.
There is the possibility of abuse -- groups sending in dozens
of application forms -- so there might need to be a $2.00
application fee. This would also help cover the cost of them
phoning us instead of the other way around.
