Our small town has two Packs, which meet (intentionally) on different
nights. Every year there are boys who transfer in both directions.
They want to be with a buddy, or the Pack meeting conflicts with a new
activity, or the family feels more comfortable with a particular meeting
style. Is my Pack sorry to see kids leave? Of course, but having
options keeps kids in Scouting. As long as parents don't switch Packs
simply to try to avoid helping the program, no one should have a problem
with transfers. A leader who takes transfers personally needs to
remember that we are here for the boys, and not our own glory.
