Nomex is fire resistant and widely used in the refinery industry, OSHA
requirement. The down side is the price, a set of coveralls costs about
$115 for a medium weight fabric. Nomex is laundered like any other typical
fabric, with a moderate life. The down side is that it is hot in the summer
and cold in the winter, my guess is that Nomex closes as ambient temperature
increases, this would protect the wearer from flash burn as it should.
Nomex is the most uncomfortable fabric I've ever worn, it holds in the
summer heat, and does little to stop the cold winds of winter.
