We have had "graduation" at the May Pack Meeting for a couple years now.
Tigers have "graduated" with newspaper cap and gown one year. We usually
present the "graduates" with their next years neckerchief and/or book
(supplied by the parents, in our case - the rich Packs can purchase
those!) Have a couple extra neckerchiefs around (or borrow from the necks
of leaders in Webelos case) in case a parent forgets. Webs I to II don't
have a uniform change so I think we gave them a tie slide last year or
somehow involved them in the ceremony so they wouldn't feel left out.
We feel by giving the Cubs their next neckerchief or book, we have a leg
up on getting them started in the new material right after graduation or
at the beginning of the summer, rather than in October after recruitment
and reshuffling the den.
Our "graduation" usually is a picnic at the park in the shelter (May
weather isn;t thegreatest in the mountains).
