Playing "Catch Up"

As you can probably see from the postings recently, I'm slowly trying to
play "Catch Up" and read and answer all of the postings that have sat here
on the machine since Jessica's mother suffered her stroke.
I'm now more than 2/3rds of the way finished and that includes some personal
postings referenced CSP/OA flaps that they haven't received, some
information about the Exploring/Venture changes, and lots of well-wishes for
my mother-in-law Anne Ryan and for us as we once again get ready to do the
I will be gone off-list for the weekend of the 18th of April, as I will be
flying to Germany on the 17th (Mike Lardie, are you paying attention??) and
arriving on the morning of the 18th. As soon as I can get to the office on
the 19th, I'll start downloading my email onto my Zip drive and responding
to postings using the old standby, Eudora Light.
Just to update everyone: Jessica's mother suffered a stroke which made it
even harder for her to use her right side (she suffers already from a
degnerative right hip, so this made it worse we're afraid) and was
hospitalized until this afternoon. Jessi came home with Momma Ryan and she
seems to feel better in her more familiar surroundings. She's still having
problems with short-term memory: she sat and couldn't remember what to do to
turn the TV set on using the remote control, for instance.
Today was my last day as a temporary out at the Earle C. Clemens Job Corps
Center. I'll post more on that experience during the day or evening Friday.
I've also finally proofed "That Name" which I am NOT posting to this list
because of the nature of the extract from "The Commandments, Those Laws and
My Rules". It was written before the OJ trial and contains that word that
to many people, brings cringes to their bodies. So, I'll post it to the
website with a suitable disclaimer so as to warn Scouts that the material
may not be suitable for their reading. There's nothing obsence in the
extract, but "that word" does pop up with some alarming (even by MY
standards!) frequency. I've tried and Jessi even tried to use another word
but as you'll see if you read it, the usage of any other word other than
that one somehow destroys the intention of the story.
Today (yes, I've been a productive little cuss!) I've also finished up the
monthly column for Scouters' Magazine called "Scouter Stress". I will be
posting it (in two parts) to our list as well.
Finally, because of my long delay, and because I feel I need to do so, I
need to reintroduce myself to all of you on the list....some of you may feel
I don't need to do so, but its been more or less tradition that if a person
leaves or becomes inactive within our band, that when they come back, that
they re-into themselves to everyone.
>From the bottom of my heart, thank you one and all for your cards, your
phone calls, your email and your prayers. We felt them every day we went to
visit Momma Ryan, during Jessica's church service (especially last Sunday
evening, when her church as a congregation asked for healing and a blessing
upon our family...thanks!) and during our daily lives here.
It's great to be back and great to finally catch up to the last full week of
