When our troop had between 7 and 12 boys, and 2 adults the previous
Scoutmaster wanted to recruit boys all the time. It didn't work well.
Forget recruiting. Focus on providing a good program. Camping, hiking,
outdoor skills, boy leadership etc.. PROGRAM !! If you provide a good
program the boys will come. Albeit slow at first, but surely. As a result
our troop has grown slowly and steadily. This has given us time to train
our leaders and adapt to the growth. Seven years later we have 52 scouts,
10 ASM's and 12 active committee members. And the boys keep coming.
