After having read the posting by the Payne family, I wonder, are there any
scouts in this troop? I believe in sticking to BSA policy, but each scout
advances at a different rate from another. I personally don't like to see
13 year old Eagle Scouts, however, it takes a board to pass them so I have
to respect the board. I am however concerned that this Troop is taking its
rules just a little over the line. Are they running a paramilitary
organization and if they don't comply they will be out, what lesson does
this teach? I do believe in consequences for actions, but theirs seem a
little harsh. I consider myself a very strict parent, and a tough task
master for Scouts, I don't give anything away, but I am the first to come to
their aid when they believe in something and need an adult to stand by them.
But, goodness, those rules are too tough. I believe in rules, but only
good, sound, fair ones. We attract more flies with honey, not vinegar!
