Dear Fellow Scouters around the World:
On February 8th I posted a request for help in locating
a source for Clan Mac Laren neckerchiefs.
Many of you e-mailed me asking if I had been able to find a source.
and I told you I would post results to the list. Here it is:
There seems to be no source for ready made Clan Mac Laren neckerchiefs.=20
Alan Brown provided me with the following:
"The Edinburgh Camping and Outdoor Centre=20
confirmed that as far as they knew there was nobody in
Scotland is using this tartan as a neckie. ... However he has no=20
problems getting them made for a group in America. =20
The approximate costs would be:
=A37.50 per neckie for a unit of 10
=A320.00 post, packing and custom clearance to the US
He said this was obviously more expensive than off the shelf items as
they have to be made to order. The more you order the lower the cost
would be, the P+P plus customs would not go up to much as this is a
fairly fixed price. I think that this is quite expensive. You might
be cheaper finding a source for the tartan in America and have them
trimmed and interlocked by a local seamstress. There is bound to be
an American clan association somewhere.=20
The address is:
Camping and Outdoor Centre
77 South Bridge
Phone and Fax 0131 225 3339
You would have to dial +44 131 225 3339 I think."
I want to thank Alan Brown of Edinburgh - Scotland for his tremendous
help in tracking down the above information.
Yours in Scouting,
