While most of you are interested in what is happening in the BSA, F Y I=20
I will post information on World Membership released last Tuesday by the
According to them there are 148 countries internationally recognized by
the WOSM. Of these e 146 have active Scouting.
>From the information released by the WOSM, & my files, I have put
together some interesting information:
The number 1 country in Scout membership is Indonesia with 9,896,357
down form 10,059,131, number two are the BSA with 5,632,897 up 22% from
the 4,602,844 of last year, but as far as I can remember well below the
historic maximum which was close to 8 million in the fifties, maybe some
List Member can correct me on that.
Canada is number 9 with 272,070 up from number 10 last year.
Five countries in the worlds (Indonesia, USA, Philippines, India and
Thailand (in that order) ) have more than a million Scouts each.
