The Den Chief's position is staying...it's too important to the overall
success of the Cub Scout - Boy Scouting transition (and it's tradition,
which is another good reason why we'll always have a Den Chief around in
What is being CONSIDERED is the idea that DEN CHIEF as a position, be
removed from the listing of "leadership positions" that could be used to
meet that particular requirement for Eagle Scout rank (and ONLY Eagle).
As an outsider, I can only understand that Den Chiefs don't lead other
peered youth (yes, they do lead Cub Scouts on occasion, but for the most
part Den Chiefs, unlike Troop Guides, do not interact with other Troop
officers or with the members of the Troop much).
