I completely disagree with eliminating the position of Den Chief. I
was a Den Chief myself, for two years and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The two den leaders I worked with said they would not have known what
to do without me.
Not only does eliminating the position keep the younger Scouts from
having a role model to look up to, it also breaks the connection to a
pack that some troops must have in order to grow or keep the same
amount of members. Most cubs who have been under the leadership of a
Den Chief will more likely choose his troop instead of another troop
that has nothing to do with their pack.
