Seasons Greetings to each and every one of you! The following poem was
written by scouter Cheryl McElwain of the Saddleback District, Orange County
Council, CA, BSA. I thought it was worth posting to the list! Thanks,
Twas the week before Christmas and boy am I stressed.
I hardly have time to even get dressed.
The stockings aren't hung (they're still in the box),
In hopes that they'll put themselves up, are you shocked?
The cards aren't written, the shopping's not done.
There's no time for Christmas--we're all on the run.
With Cub Scouts, and plays and homework to do,
I'm coughing & sneezing, I might have the flu.
Now out on the lawn you can hear such a clatter.
The kids are all yelling, NOW what's the matter.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
Our skateboarding son, guess he fell on his rear.
I rush out to get him, pick him up, oh so quick.
No fractures or bleeding, why it's hardly a nick.
And then in a twinkling it came to my mind.
There s more to this season than standing in line.
There s loving and giving, our family and friends,
Caring for others, helping hands we can lend.
The beautiful lights strung wrapped around trees,
The prayers to be said down upon bended knees.
Count our blessings instead, hug our loved ones so tight.
Know the joy in our hearts this calm Christmas Night!
Merry Christmas to all!
