Den discipline & Introductiion

Hello Fellow Scouters,
I've been reading the list messages for a few weeks now and have enjoyed
myself. What a wealth of information! I have been a Cub Scout volunteer
for four years. As ADL for my son's Bear den, then WDL for the Webelos
years. This year I am a Tiger Cub Partner with my younger son!
I wanted to reply to Kristen's post about discipline at Webelos den
meetings. Most of the responses I've read have been right on the mark. I
had 10 boys in my den and which I had cut it back the first year.
Unfortunately I didn't yet I survived. The boys matured wonderfully over
the two year program! After having similar problems like the den leader in
question, I started used a flip chart at the beginning of every meeting.
On it, I had an adgenda for the meeting...this keep the boys from
constantly asking what would be next. I also had a code... CRR. C: be
Courteous, R: Respectful, and R: be Responsible. Every meeting, I started
with this code and often had to remind the boys about it. At the beginning
of the year we signed conduct contracts like someone else mentioned. Every
six months or so, get the contracts out for reminders.
That's my two cents. I could go on and on but it would just to reiterate
what others have said.
