First, the good news. In my troop of troubled kids (yes, one of my newer
scouts came to me tonight asking for a letter of introduction about me and
the troop for his probation offer. The kid's barely 14), I have 12
advancing next week, with 17 different awards. We sold lots of popcorn,
with the top seller in the troop getting a brand-new all-patches-sewn-on
shirt (which, given how much THAT will cost, will eat up all of the profit
for the troop this boy earned...)
Anyway, I have a question about how people handle the "10 activity" rule.
I have a young man who has, by a strict count, participated in only 5
activities since June (normal, one per month), but *7* nights of camping,
since he went to summer camp. I'm curious if anyone counts summer camp as
more than one activity (since it is 5 or more nights) or if everyone counts
it as one activity.
