As a mother I felt the teaching of responsibility was good and I told
my son to take his Cub money from his pocket money so I could
teach him to budget as well. However I found that he would say that
he would rather keep the money and not go to Cubs. As a mother it
is important to me to keep my boy's in scouting if at all possible so
now I pay the dues each week and all my boys have to do is remind me
to give them the money.
In our group we have both a yearly fee and nominal weekly dues. Not
much fuss is made if the fees aren't collected once or twice during the
year. If the leader notes that a child is continually not bringing the
they look into the situation.
