Our pack has looked at several different fund raising activites as well.
With a pack of 80 boys are expenses are high. Our council sponsors a
council wide Scout-A-Rama, which each unit can use as a fund raiser. The
Pack sells tickets to the Scout-A-Rama to the general population with a
Candy Bar supplied as a thank you for buying the ticket. For every dollar
we bring end the Pack receives a percentage of that total usally 20-30%. We
get our money in the form of a credit at the Scout Trading Post, which we
use for badges and awards. We also hold raffles at each pack meeting,
prizes donated by local businesses, or individual pack families.
Even with all this we still have to collect a annual fee of $50.00 per
scout, to pay for our monthly pack outings, and incedental expenses. We
find that getting the "dues" money up front, frees our den leadership from
having to collect the $1.00 week dues from the boys, and the parents feel
they are not continually asked for money throughout the year.
