Hi all and Happy Holidays and a Very Good New Year to you.
I wanted to poll Scouts-l to find out what you do about dues. We collect
weekly dues of $1 and the Scribe records this and turns it over to the
Tresurer. Problem is many of the boys forget from time to time, and after
five or six months the Scout owes $10 or more. Maybe the Scout Law should
include "A Scout is not forgetful". After while the Scoutmaster has to say
something and looks like a bill collect and a parent doesn't understand
why..........you get the picture. I've talked to other Scouters and they
tell me it's to much of a problem and that they just have a yearly fee. I
know that dues are to teach the boys responsibility and gives them an
opportunity to pay there own way which they could do at a dollar a week and
maybe not at $40 a year, but its not working.
I just want to know if you do weekly or yearly dues, and are you happy with
the way its working out?
