I am not a professional scouter, so I can only give my reactions to
your question. I would think a degree in a discipline that deals with
people is probably the best bet, since pros start as District
Executives. They need to "sell" the Scouting program to volunteers,
school principals, businesses, etc. I feel they should have some
financial background or courses. Understanding fundraising and how
money is leveraged, accounted for, and disbursed is nice to have.
While there is not a formal degree called "Parenting", many of the
same skills are necessary, patience, negotiating skills, having a "thick
hide" at times, and motivating and some times disciplining.
My choices are (in no particular order):
