My son was an early Eagle. They tried to hold him back because he didn't
live up to the standards of three 17 year olds that went before him. He also
didn't meet the standards thatthe troop chairman of the board set.
He did a board of Appeal and got his Eagle. He had met the National
Standards. He has earned 124 MBs, got five silver palms, done a Philmont
Trek, Boundary waters, NJLIC, Staffed NJLIC, earned both Catholic Religious
Awards, the Sons of the American Revolution Good Citizens Silver medal, and
been to a National Jamboree plus a Pilmont Ranger for two years going on
three. And he has smelled the flowers along the way. Nine of the MBs were
earned at camp and the rest through 79 other individual counselors.
He is mildly dyslexic and the learning by doing way of the scouts suit him to
Oh yeah, he is also just finishing the Explorer Gold award.. Go ahead and
shoot him down.
