I agree with Ronald and in addition to the ScoutMaster Handbook =
I just checked the "Guide To Safe Scouting" and it confirms in =
my mind that Patrols can go out to someone's back yard without =
adults present and still call it a Scouting event. The Guide is
more open than just someones back yard while still restricting
backpacking adventures to include 2 adults. The ScoutMaster
Handbook does say they need SM approval and someplace guardian/
parent approval so that common sense is exercised.
Hopefully KY Mike, or a YPP Trainer doesn't have or know something =
beyond these two sources. Hopefully it is not another rule on the back of=
a BSA form, another booklet BSA has hidden away, a video, or on an index
card buried in a vault in Irving.
Beyond someone's back yard or the forest behind their house I believe
2 adults should go along. Small areas like ours have been suffering
violet crimes perpetuated by young teens for the last several years.
Common sense, reading, and watching the news tells us to be careful
of situations boys can get or drift themselves into.
YiS, IMHO, and may we each attempt to live the SO,SL,SS,SM
