Speaking of duties for the JASM position, reminded me of another duty tha=
I have assigned in the past that worked out very well. If you have a fair=
large group of adults that go camping with the Troop and camp as a patrol=
such as the Over the Hill Patrol, Old Goat Patrol, or something like that=
I have seen it work out very well to assign the JASM to the the Patrol
Leader of the adult patrol.
Most of the time, most of the adults will accept their jobs of cutting
wood, doing the cooking, dish washing, etc if the JASM makes out the duty=
roster and or need to show some of the adults how to use the woods tools,=
etc rather than the Scoutmaster having to do those thing and assign tasks=
Most seem to accept their jobs with less complaining if it comes from the=
JASM rather than the Scoutmaster.
This works super well when you have a bunch of new parents join the Troop=
and tell them this is your Patrol Leader and he is going to teach you abo=
Boy Scouting and the Patrol Method and it keep them from being out trying=
to do things for their kid in his own patrol.
