>>I'm curious about how many units have regularly scheduled unit
meetings. Do you meet same time each month, every other month, etc.
or do you meet only when the chair calls a meeting?
I'm also interested in how long meetings last, especially compared to
frequency. I'm sure it varies from meeting to meeting but some
approximation would be helpful.<<
Our committee meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of each month.
We generally give reports from each subcommittee (camping, financial,
advancement, etc) and then discuss old business and new business. We try
to keep it relatively informal, but we do follow the Rober's Rules as
far as meeting agenda. However, we rarely take an actual vote, rather we
just vote by acclamation.
Meeting length, of course, varies from 30 minutes to almost 2 hours. I
should point out that we have only had three meetings so far, because
when I took over as Scoutmaster in April there WAS no committee. It took
several months to get one going. We have a GREAT Committee Chairman
(who, by the way, is in the hospital after breaking his back falling out
of a 40 ft deer stand; prayer is requested). Several parents have joined
the committee, and I think we have a great start.
