I know that a lot of packs try to cross over Webelos at their Blue and Gold
Banquet. I'd like to suggest you consider doing this at some other time.
Seems to me that Webelos are frequently recognized at pack meetings -- most
of them earn an activity pin a month or so. Other cubs don't get the same
frequency of recognition. Since many dens target Blue and Gold as the time
for Cubs to receive their rank badges--work furiously in January to finish
the last few achievements ;-) --that means that in the month when the Wolf
or Bear Cubs get their big advancement of the year that it is overshadowed
by the crossover ceremony.
If you target January or March as the crossover ceremony, both the graduating
Webelos and the advancing Wolves and Bears can receive significant recognition
without extending the meeting for ever.
I think about this each year as I hear packs planning crossover for their
Blue and Gold Banquet. You may wish to consider the options . . .
