I can totally understand HOW you feel.... I was in your same situation
a few years back when my son was in Webelos. When in was in his first year
of Webelos his leader told me in March and I quote "If your son earns one
more pin this year he will have to wait until next year to receive it". I
was angry with that but fortunately my son continued with the program and
waited until the next year earn anymore pins. In Oct. I spoke to the WL and
SM and asked if the boys could cross over in Feb. since "most" of the 2nd yr
Webs were ready and they flat out refused to allow this.
After my son crossed over into the troop again he was a "go getter"
with "goals" in mind. As my son progressed along the trail again "quicker
than others" he was told he was moving to fast since noone in the troop had
received Eagle before they were 17yrs old. My son flat out told them that he
wanted to earn his Eagle and palms and continued to "fight" his way through.
I am VERY PROUD of him since he did achieve HIS goal (I supported him/didn't
push)........ he had his EBOR at 14.9 yrs old. He was the first in the troop
ever to earn and receive a palm at his COR. Yes he is still very active and
is currently the SPL.
He has set a new "tradition" in the troop for the boys and is working
very hard with the new SM to make a difference in the troop!
So.............. keep your chin up and "support" your son. He has to
want this and he will do what is necessary to make it all happen.
My .02 worth.............
"I used to be a bear" and a Proud Eagle Mom too!
