OK List I am totally confused and have opened a whole new can of worms
It was my interpretation of the leaders book as well as the Wolf and Bear
books that a Scout could NOT WORK on Arrow Points until AFTER his badge
of rank was earned. When some of you (not naming names) wrote to me you
said yes he COULD WORK on arrow points but they could not be awarded
until AFTER he had earned his badge of rank. I took it as my mistake and
trusted that you were more experienced than I, so I went along. NOW I
think I was correct in my original thinking that a Scout can ONLY WORK on
Arrow Points AFTER he has earned his badge of rank.
In my leaders book copyright 1982 1996 printing it says on page 130
under Wolf "AFTER (emphasis mine) he has earned his Wolf badge, he is
encouraged to work on the 22 Wolf electives until he completes second
grade (or becomes 9)." Likewise under Bear it says "WHEN (emphasis mine)
he has earned his Bear badge, he may work on electives in the Big Bear
Cub Scout Book for credit for Bear arrow points."
I also have read similar wording in both the Wolf and Bear books. So
what is it? Someone who said that I'm wrong, and I have all the E-mails
still, quote me page, chapter, and verse where it says A Scout CAN WORK
on arrow points BEFORE he has achieved rank.
If I'm still wrong I need to know but if I'm right there are even more
people that need to know. I am anxiously awaiting your comments.
