I asked my boss if I could have three weeks off w/pay to support the BSA when
I served at the National Jambo in the Nat'l Health & Safety Service... I had
to drive down and back, and had to be there some days early to get set up.
After he got up from laughing on the floor, we settled on one week of paid
vacation (my own vaca time) and the rest unpaid leave. So I had a short
paycheck, and I lost a bunch of incentive bonus time, but i didn't eat up all
my vaca either.
I later found out that HIS boss's boss was a leader in the SE Region, and
I'll bet HE got paid time off for it.... Next time I'm going to start early
and start at the top.
