It's the fear of being called "Uniform Police" that keeps many of us
from being helpful in a situation like that. For some people, no
matter how tactfully you try to correct them they will take offense.
There may in fact be some obnoxious uniform police types out there.
However, if someone offers a corrective comment on your uniform,
view them with a little charity for they may just be attempting to be
helpful (like a good Scout) and are uncomfortable in the process.
There have been many complaints on this list about being caught
by the uniform police. The implication is that the police have nothing
better to do with their lives than nit pick other people's uniforms.
Maybe we all should not be so quick to take
offense from what may be an innocent attempt at being helpful.
