Our Troop just spent 2 days picking corn and raised about $1500. One of
the fathers in the Troop is an agronomist for a seed corn company. The seed
test plots are rows of about 10 feet containing a dozen or so plants that
have to be picked & bagged separately. His company has fields all over the
country and I'm sure other companies do too.
Downside to this: when the corn's ready it has to be picked--and any farmer
or gardner knows that plants don't grow to our schedules.
