I use vacation time. However, a fellow Bobwhite's company used to let
him take the time off without charging him vacation. I guess that his
boss is an Eagle Scout. Justifying it to my family is easy! 3 Scouts
(One Life, One Star, One Tenderfoot) and the wife is Committee
Chairperson. We both go on most of the campouts, even though in our
council we do not count as 2 deep leadership. I think that if I

Subject: Time Off from Work For Summer Camp
During Summer of 98 I plan on going to summer camp with my son's
troop, that I
am a leader in.
My questions is how do most of you get the time off from work to go to
Do you end up using vacation time? If you do, how do you justify to
the rest of
your family that they only get one week to go on a family vacation
that you only get the standard 2 weeks)?
Or does your company offer you time off with pay to go to summer camp?
do get this type of time off was there already a policy in place or
did you have
to go convince HR or your boss that this was something worth doing?
I know that when I was a scout my dad use to get a temporary duty
accompany the troop. Of course he was a chief in the USN at the time
believed strongly in scouting.
If anyone could share their experiences in this matter with the group
I think it
would be greatly appreciated. This could also be used by those of us
companies does not offer this type of benefit to start to offer it.
