Causes of Death.
The following are the Top Five for males by three age groups
5-9yrs: Unintentional Injuries, Malignant Neoplasms(cancer), Congenital
Anomalies, Homicide, Heart Disease.
10-14yrs: Unintentional Injuries, Malignant Neoplasms(cancer), Homicide,
Suicide, Congenital Anomalies
15-19yrs: Unintentional Injuries, Homicide, Suicide, Malignant
Neoplasms(cancer), Heart Disease.
For all age groups except <1 yr and 65+yr the top cause of Unintentional
Injury death are motor vehicles. The 2nd and 3rd causes follow:
For 5-9yr: Drowning, Other unintentional
10-14: Other unintentional, drowning
15-24: Other unintentional, drowning
Other unintentional includes accidental firearm discharge, electrocution,
suffocation, lacerations and most unusual injuries. It does NOT include
fire/burn, falls and poisoning (which should include drug overdoses).
