Since the list seems to be heavily into the 12th point of the Scout Law,
I thought I would take the opportunity to remind folks that the National
Jewish Committee on Scouting maintains a web page and mailing list to
support Jewish Scouting.
co-listowner and co-webmaster
The web page is at http://www.shamash.org/scouts and the mailing list is
described in the following paragraphs.
The J-Scouts mailing list is a service of the National Jewish Committee
on Scouting of the Boy Scouts of America to provide for improving
communication between and among the NJCS and Jewish Scouts and Scouters
and other Scouters who are providing service to Jewish youth. It is
particularly directed at providing additional resources to the Scout or
Scouter who does not have the support of a local Jewish Committee on
Scouting or even a local Jewish community.
Although the focus of this list is Jewish Scouting and its sponsor is
BSA-associated NJCS, this list is open to anyone, including Girl Scouts
and Girl Scout leaders and non-USA and non-Jewish Scouts and Scouters.
The only requests are that contributors remember the mission of the
J-Scouts list and the Scout Oath and Law, in particular, the twelfth
of the Scout Law:
A Scout is REVERENT: A Scout is reverent toward G-d. He is
faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs
The NJCS will use this list to announce various programs it is
such as the new religious emblem for older Boy Scouts and Explorers,
regional kinusim, kosher Wood Badge and other training courses, and
scholarships and other awards. Other Jewish Scouting organizations are
invited to use the list in the same manner.
The idea is to provide another channel for getting information from the
NJCS to those who are trying to deliver a quality Scouting program to
Jewish community. Thus, it is to the advantage of everyone in Jewish
Scouting to subscribe to J-Scouts.
To subscribe to the J-Scouts mailing list, send an email message to
with the one-line message:

where "your name" is your real name.
