We belong to a Catholic church which doesn't sponsor any Scout troops; our
sons' troop is sponsored by the Presbyterian church; so we have "double
The troop acts as ushers on Scout Sunday. I'm pretty involved in our own
church, so I haven't gotten over to see what they do, but I know they hand
out bulletins, etc. That's about it for Scout Sunday - unfortunately, I
don't think any of the Scouts or Scouters belong to the church that
sponsors the troop, or there would be more involvement. This has been the
case since the COR's son turned 18 a few years ago.
Our parish invites Scouts to come to church in uniform; if they do, they
are the first asked to bring up the gifts. If the parish scponsored a
troop, I think we'd have more/better participation, and maybe be able to go
further with Scout Sunday activities.
Hope this gives you some ideas!
