How often should Webelos Meet? was Webelo's Patrol

Alicia brought up an interesting point in the deiscussion. How can the
Webelos earn pins if they meet only once or twice a month? I think the
answer is - you can't keep to the Pin Schedule as outlined in Program
Helps if you meet infrequently.
We meet weekly. At least on paper we meet weekly. What actually happens
is that we lose a meeting here or there due to cancellation (bad weather,
bad luck) or holidays. By meeting weekly, even if we miss a meeting or
two, we can still 1) do what is required for Pack Meetings 2) work on our
pins. If we get a little off track, some months there's an extra week to
catch up. Or we can skip a weekly meeting if we need to schedule a field
trip on a Saturday.
I'm finding that the attendance isn't quite as good for Webelos meeting in
the evening as when we meet directly after school. Almost as good, but
not quite. So it's easier for the boys not to keep the advancement as
"close together" as it was for Bears.
Sometimes I feel like our Pack responsibilities "erode" our time to work
on Webelos pins. That's ridiculous of course, because without the Pack
meeting we have no place to showcase what we've learned - but sometimes
you feel like there just isn't enough time to get it all done.
I'd be interested to know how long other Webelos groups meet for and when
and how they fair for attendance.
