Where "6" on a Sash comes from.

Actually this is only a possibility but it was developed through talking
with a good number of Scouters who have a good deal of history behind them.
It seems that at one time it was not "appropriate" to wear a Sash (I ""
appropriate because no one is absolutly sure if it was regulation) until
after a Scout had gained the Star rank...
As it took a minimum of six (6) badges to earn Star....

as for my own opinion ... we had a CoH last night an no one wore his sash
prouder than a Scout (his rank) who was displaying his first (and so far
only) merit badge which he earned at Summer Camp....
