Well, this committee certainly overstepped their authority by a long way.
First of all, the troop committee does not vote on CC or SM. They
investigate and recommend. The only people who can remove a Scoutmaster of
Committee Chair are the IH and the CR. The BSA can do it also, but only for
very serious offences. These folks need some training. The right action was
obviously taken, but these folks could have had a very big disappointment
if the head of your sponsoring organization replied that he understood the
vote was taken, but felt that the person should not be removed. Then what?
The CR needs to be in the loop and the matter handled properly.
