Greetings, everyone! I've been lurking on this list for a week now, &
reading Scouts-L via Scouter.com for the last couple of months, so I figure
it's time to be polite & introduce myself to all you fine folks.
Professionally, I'm a computer systems architect & computer
recently got out of the military after 13 yrs, & most of my adult scouting
has been with military troops & overseas councils. I also enjoy astronomy,
backpacking & reading. I'm currently building a 4.25 inch backpacking
telescope, hope to have it done by the first of the year. In addition, I
am a Massachusetts & National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
From the scouting standpoint, I'm an Eagle Scout, have the Arrow of
Vigil Honor in the OA, & used to be a Fox (W3-803-92). I've been involved
in scouting since I was became a cub at age 8, making it (mumble, mumble)
years (you figure, given I went to college before going into the military)
of scouting. As an adult, I've served in Troop positions ranging from
Committeemember at Large through Scoutmaster (& my condolences/
congratulations to ALL who hold that, Cubmaster, & Committee Chair
positions), and have served at Council level as Unit Commissioner, on
Camping & Training committees, & as Lodge Advisor. I'm looking for a troop
in the Nashua, NH area that needs/desires some help on an infrequent (I
keep telling myself, this time only 2-3 hrs/month, anyone care to lay odds
on it staying that little?) basis.
Now that I've introduced myself, I plan to start taking part in
these facinating discussions on this list. I'm impressed at the following
of the 5th point of the BSA Scout Law in this group.
