To start a new thread or put a new spin on this one--many of these
insensitive types may also be one of those turning away other leaders. One
of the leaders in our cub scout pack was uninvited by the boy scout troop
because of his wheelchair. I have heard of charter organizations turning out
cub scouts because of the race of the boys.
There are narrow minded people everywhere. Next door, in your business, in
every volunteer organization, they may even be in your family. You have to
learn to deal with them, ignore them, go over them, or around them. You
probably won't change their minds, they have had their prejudicies a long
