"The program of the Five Star Universtiy of Scouting is designed to
provide an important link in the continuing education of Scouters.
It bagan directing its efforts to support the unit, roundtable,
and council commissioners and their assistants. The audience has
enlarged to include volunteer Scouters working in the district and
council administration of the Scouting program.
The Five Star University of Scouting is a cooperative venture of
councils serving the State of Wisconsin and parts of Illinois and
Michigan. Specifically included are: Bay Lakes, Four Lakes, Gateway
Area, Milwaukee County, Potawatomi Area, Sinnissippi, and Southeast
Wisconsin. Originally, only five councils were involved.
The expanded curriculum will meet yur needs whether you are a new
of the district or an experienced Scouter with years of training.
Scouting skills, fellowship, food, and education are an impossible
combination to beat!
We have made a number of changes in our program this year. We have
expanded our offerings to include new courses of interest not only to
our commissioner staff, but also to the volunteers who handle
aminstrative Scouting, our district and council committee members,
and special training opportunities for roundtable staffs. With the
course offerings, there is something for every district and council
We are offering the total degree program in a one-day program. The
requirements for the 8th course will be covered by the evening dinner
speaker. Many new staff members have been added with the addition of
our two new councils joining in.
Finally, for this year, we have moved the Five Star University of
Scouting to Delafield, Wisconsin, to a unique facility. St. John's
Northwestern Military Academy is conveniently located just off I-94.
(25 miles west of Milwaukee)
We are continuing the things that were successful in the past. The
Lifesaving courses will continue, and courses like "Scouting the
Internet" will continue: so we have strived to improve the program
while retaining the successful parts of the past.
By the way, we have lowered the cost significantly this year. Only
$25.00 gets you the whole package including both lunch and dinner,
and you are only away from home for the day!
